Putting My Experience to Work

Since launching this campaign, the big question I get from people is . . . "What exactly will you do if you win?"

First off, this whole "if" I win talk. Just joking. I don't take anything for granted or sound cocky. You deserve a straight answer. You shouldn't have to guess how your next mayor plans to manage your tax dollars.

This campaign is about practical experience applied to the basic issues affecting your daily life: open government, reliable infrastructure, and fiscal responsibility.

The mayor does not run the city alone. A mayor is one of seven votes. Running a city requires teamwork. Here is the guts of my plan for Port Huron and exactly how I intend to partner with the rest of our city leadership to get it done.

1) Open Government

City Hall decisions shouldn't happen behind closed doors or catch you by surprise.

The Action Plan: Local government works best when we work together. As mayor, my focus will be on building strong consensus on the city council so we can keep communication with the public clear and consistent. By working collaboratively with the council, we will ensure that information about upcoming city decisions is easy to find and review ahead of time, keeping you informed and included in the process.

2) Fixing Our Roads and Pipes

We must prioritize basic infrastructure to keep our city moving forward.

The Action Plan: I am not a road construction expert, but I will make sure our neighborhood road issues are being properly reviewed and fixed. I will work hand-in-hand with the city council, city manager, and staff to ensure our streets, sidewalks, and water lines get the attention they need. Addressing these problems early prevents massive, compounding repair bills later.

3) Watching Your Tax Dollars

Your hard-earned tax money needs to be managed with absolute precision.

The Action Plan: I hold a business degree and work as a Finance Director. I manage complex budgets for a living. I am going to bring that background to the table and work alongside the City Council to carefully oversee city spending, eliminate waste, and direct revenue where it belongs.
